Compensation: $210,000 - $250,000 (USD) in New York, $196,000 - $240,000 in Denver, plus equity. They will exceed $250K for someone exceptional. THE COMPANY Remaking the health insurance claims process with an RCM automation platform built for medical providers, removing unnecessary human intervention. They sit between provider groups and insurance companies to get everyday claims paid cleanly, in a $280B a year industry that is fundamentally broken. Founded in 2019, 175 people, Series C. Revenue, team and headcount have more than 2.5x'd every single year. Product and engineering led, deeply customer driven, with a builder's mindset. Four values are screened in every candidate: outcome orientation, introspection, grit and hustle, intellect. Worth being direct about the bar: it is higher than the industry average. Most people coming from elsewhere see a lateral move or a down level. Being up leveled here almost never happens. THE ROLE Full stack with backend depth, on core product teams. Some infrastructure needs as well. This is an evergreen pipeline, not a single scoped team. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR - 8+ years. The job description says 6+, but in practice their recent senior hires had eight or more. They are targeting a genuinely senior engineer, potentially staff level - CS degree or similar technical degree - Modern stack: Python, TypeScript, GCP, some Go. Strong CS fundamentals, data structures and algorithms - You write your own code. Their coding interviews are live and you are expected to write it yourself, without AI assistance - Clear upward trajectory. Ten years in a role with no promotion is an anti signal - Startup experience somewhere in your background is required (Series A to E or a high growth company). Big Tech is compatible with this, as long as the startup experience is there too - Tenure: at least one long run of three to four years. Multiple sub two year stints with no long tenure is a dealbreaker - Scalability, infrastructure optimization and scaling bottleneck experience is a strong plus NOT A FIT Microsoft-stack or Apple-only backgrounds. Legacy healthcare and insurance enterprises. Legacy enterprise tech and IT services. Contractors and consultants. Anyone who has only ever worked in one big tech company. Healthcare experience gives no edge here. They are domain agnostic, and fintech is often a better signal. LOCATION New York or Denver, 4 days in office with flexibility for parents. No relocation support, so you should already be in one of those cities. US citizens, green card holders, TN or E3 visas only. PROCESS Five interviews across three stages, all virtual: recruiter screen, 45 minute live coding, then a second coding interview plus a backend systems design session, then two behavioral interviews and a product demo. Full team debrief and reference checks before any offer.
